Glossary
Gas-A Gas does not have its own shape. Gas is not solid or liquid. You can not pour a gas out of a bottle. Examples of gas are air, steam, or helium that fills a balloon.
Liquids-Liquids take the shape of whatever container they are in. Liquids can be poured out. Liquids are wet. Examples of a liquid are juice or coffee.
Mass-The amount of material that makes up matter.
Matter-Anything that takes up space.
Solids-Solids have their own shape. Solids can not be poured out. Examples of a solid are a flowerpot or desk.
Volume-The amount of space matter takes up.
Water Vapor-Water that has been turned into a gas. Steam is water vapor. Fog is water vapor.
