Water in its liquid form covers about 70% of the earth's surface. The Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean. Water from the ocean is known as seawater. The Ocean's surface is constantly moving causing powerful waves, yet it provides food and a home for plant and animal life.

In addition to oceans water is found in lakes, ponds, rivers, and streams. Water beneath the earth's surface helps plants grow. When ground water is heated by the earth it bubbles to the surface. The super heated water turns into water vapor or steam. In places like Yellowstone the steam rises from beautiful pools of water.

Water is also found in solid form all over the world, but particularly at the North and South Poles. Snow and ice make up 80% of the worlds' fresh water. Majestic ice mountains that float in the water are called iceburgs.
